Here are the FAQs

People considering the necessity for investing in a personal travel risk management solution, want to understand the service limitations and to what extent how their security will benefit from registering a monitored travel schedule.

What will be the intensity of GPS tracking for the duration of the booked travel schedule?

The Talon Guard App is a live monitored 24/7 period of surveillance which uses a geo-location feature connected to the individual smartphone device. The Tracking schedule is performed in two phases which are known as ‘Standby’ & ‘Live Track’. Standby is a partial monitoring mode that registers a person’s location when they Check-in their position. It is the default setting for the App as it maintains its connection with the Talon Guard tracking operations centre. The ‘Standby’ mode also preserves the device’s battery life.

‘Live Track’ can be activated in the tracking feature which means your device will transmit a permanent active tracking signal. This is used in times of increased threat or during travel in hostile environments.

How do you alert the tracking operator when you are in a security emergency?

A: The App has an SOS Alert button. This will alert the tracking operator.

B: During the profile registration, You will be asked to provide a duress codeword or phrase…something memorable that can easily be slipped into the conversation to alert the tracking operator that you are in distress. It could be, ‘’It’s Coffee Time’’

Is there a registration fee associated with the app?

No, if you are a frequent traveller, you can download the app and register your membership profile in anticipation of intended travel for free.

How is the payment schedule calculated for each travel plan?

When you enter your travel plan, a risk rating is generated associated with each country based on current embassy travel advice. Each risk rating will incur a daily charge rate comparable to the level of human support expected from the tracking operations centre, (TOC). The dates you submit will generate the total cost of your travel days before you subscribe to the tracking schedule.

What are the country’s daily risk rates?

Red is a High Travel Risk
Daily Tracking & Monitoring $ 70.00

Amber is a Medium Travel Risk.
Daily Tracking & Monitoring $ 50.00

Green is a Low Travel Risk
Daily Tracking & Monitoring $ 40.00

What Happens if I am located in a remote area with no cell phone signal?

Talon Guard recognises that many travellers can find themselves outside a GSM network coverage area or that there is a probability that hostilities or political unrest can occur leading to communication network blackouts. For this reason, we offer a Raptor-Tracker package. The Raptor Tracker is a Personal Location Beacon (PLB) It is fully autonomous from the GSM networks and works with a satellite GPS connection chip. The Raptor is concealable enough not to be discovered or detected during a hostile encounter.

How many Locations Check-Ins do I need to do per day?

We recommend that the check-ins are aligned with the Risk level So, if your travel country destination is rated High-Risk you are required to schedule three Check-ins in a 24hr period, once in a low-Risk country and twice in a Medium-Risk country. The timings are considered local time in your destination country.
